Hakone (71)

Our tour

Located  at 1 h 30 from Tokyo with the Odakyu LTD exp., Hakone, the door of Mount Fuji, is a very popular place on weekends. From Hakone station, the Tozan railways lead you to Gora with an old steam train, the journey which lasts 30 minutes,  is spectacular! The open air museum is one stop before the terminus of Gora. After visiting the museum which is worth a visit, you have the choice: Either 10 minutes funicular from Gora to Sounzan if you want to take the cable car to the lake (30min.) and from there a boat (1hr) with a magnificent view of Mount Fuji to return to Moto Hakone where buses take you back to the station of Hakone in 40 minutes. Or If you want to avoid the cable, it is also possible to make the journey from Gora (you can visit "le petit prince" museum) to the lake by bus. I suggest taking the Hakone Pass which allows travel on trains, buses and boats in the region with one ticket at a discount price. Come early in the morning if you want to enjoy the many things to see and do there.
If you go there like us during the "golden week", you will live a true walkabout. A gold rush, very well organized of course!
